About The Labor Women's Conference
The Labor Women’s Conference is a unique national forum, open to all women members of the Labor Party. Held every three years, it provides a forum for ideas and debate, and a place for friendships to form.
The Labor Women's Conference aims to:
- Improve women’s networks in the Party
- Strengthen the links between Labor women across all factions and groups in the Party
- Revitalise ALP women
- Enable connections between women which might not be possible under other structures within the ALP.
- Promote policy debate.
The Conference has been held every three years. The venue is rotated between the States and Territories, and each Conference decides which State or Territory will hold the next conference.
Following the 2005 Conference in Victoria, the 2008 Conference will be held in NSW.
2005 National Labor Women's Conference (22 April to 24 April 2005)
The 2005 National Labor Women's Conference was held in Melbourne from Friday 22 April to Sunday 24 April 2005. The theme of the conference was Labor Women looking ahead to 2020.
Speakers included Professor Judith Brett, Mary Delahunty, and Joumanah El Matrah. From Labor's Federal Caucus, Tanya Plibersek provided the opening address (click here) and Jenny Macklin the Sunday address (click here)

- HYPOTHETICAL – Reflections on Election Night Dinner Party - DON(NA’)S PARTY in 2020 - moderated by Susan Halliday (former Sex Discrimination Commissioner)
- NLWN Conference Dinner - Comedian RACHEL BERGER will be starring at the NLWN Conference Dinner, along with other comedians TBC
